Wheatgrass juice is a known detoxification remedy and belonged to superfoods. Most of the people believe that it can help in improving digestion process, cleaning up the liver, purifying the blood, and boost up the hemoglobin production in the body. Many of the health food stores at your place or even near you carry pre-made wheatgrass juice, but you yourself can also make it without much difficulty. Grinding the grass into juice by using a mortar and pestle will provide you the most nutritious results. You can also use the blender in making wheatgrass juice, but be aware that due to the rapid movement of the blades, some of the chlorophyll may oxidize, making the drink slightly less beneficial for you.
Drink Organic Wheatgrass Juice for the Healthier You
Prepare the organic certified wheatgrass. Harvest the grass by snipping the blades at about ½ an inch above the ground. Use a clean knife or a pair of scissors. The blades should be at about 8 inches tall, having the plant grown at about a week after the wheat grains were sown. When washing this, place the blades inside the strainer and run it in a cool to a lukewarm tap water temperature over the grass and through the strainer to make sure that the dirt, insects or bacteria were removed. Chop the grass using the knife. Place the grass on a cutting board and give its blades a rough chop. Remember that the smaller the pieces, the easier it will be grind or blend them to make a juice. Collect enough chop grass to fill at least about ½ of your cup. You can actually have the choice of working in smaller or larger batches, but keep in mind that this amount should be enough to make two servings of wheatgrass juice.
When you use a mortar and pestle, place enough chop grass into the mortar to fill the bottom of it. Do not fill the mortar at more than ¼ full. Grind the blades out until they begin to stick together. Apply the pestle with the stirring motion and press force enough for you to crush the certified organic wheatgrass. Add a little water to it. Mashed the water into the crushed grass with the use of the same force. Empty the content of the mortar into a clean cloth. Twist the top and prevent the paste from escaping. Drain the wheatgrass juice into a clean glass. Repeat the process of grinding until the blades become white.
