Devil’s claw powder can help in the relief of muscle and body pain. It can help relieve arthritis patients from the pain. A recently published double blind studies stated that the pain can be relieved in as little as 10 days. This is with regular use.
It is native to south Africa. The name comes from the small hooks on the plant. In this region, it has been used to help treat ailments. Some examples are fever, malaria, and indigestion.
It can also help relieve pains from the:

Devil’s claw powder can also help in the treatment of:

- loss of appetite.
There is a German study that used Devil’s Claw powder. The study had 31 people taking the product. There were also 32 people taking a placebo. In 4 weeks, there is a significant reduction in pain for the people taking devil’s claw. These people had slight back, neck, and shoulder muscle pain.
Another study of Devil’s claw powder stated the effectiveness of the product. The study is from the European Journal of Anaesthesiology. The duration of the study was 4 weeks. 197 people that rated 5 out of 10 pain scale in terms of back pain were in the study. They took devil’s claw and a placebo. The former seemed to reduce more pain than the latter.
There are some caveats. People with gastric ulcers should not intake this product. Also, those with gallstones should consult a doctor first. It should not also be used by pregnant women. It is believed that the product can cause uterine contractions.
