Thyme (White) e.o. – 30 ml
The Thyme (White) e.o. (essential oil) has a warm, herbal, and spicy scent.
It should be noted that Thyme contains a high amount of toxic phenols. These are carvacol and thymol. These can irritate mucus membranes. It can also cause irritations to the skin.
This essential oil is made from White Thyme. This is also the rectified thyme from the red variant of the oil. It is the first product of distillation. The crude red variant is widely used but a certain amount of caution is advised.
The Thyme plant was used by the Ancient Greeks. It was also used by Ancient Egyptians and Romans. It was, and still used for its herbal medicinal properties. The name comes from the Greek word “THYMOS.” This means scent, or perfume. The oil has a mildly sweet but strong herbal scent. The red variant has a brown to amber color. The white variant has a pale yellow color.
Red thyme (not sold by us) contains antiviral and antibacterial properties. Kills airborne bacteria when used in a vaporizer or diffuser. It may provide relief of symptoms from bronchitis or pneumonia. It is a skin irritant! When using white thyme oil in massage therapy, it is imperative to do a skin patch test to determine if the person is sensitive to the oil.
Other uses of the white thyme oil include it being:
- topical application for warts.
It can also aid in the treatment of gout. It can also help in the relief of rheumatism.
Thyme oil is a very potent oil. It should not be used during pregnancy or in cases of high blood pressure.
Note: Although remedial, people with major health ailments like cancer, or epilepsy should avoid use. Non—toxic, non—irritant, possible sensitization in some individuals. Not to be used while pregnant.
